Yesterday, during the New Jersey Assembly, the Bill A2578 got approved. This bill is going to help in the authorization of online casinos to operate through Atlantic City. In the process, it will give scope to the residents of the state to enjoy online gambling.
The bill got approved with 48 people supporting it. There were 24 voting against it and 4 made the list of absentees.
The next step in the fight for getting the online casinos on the map of New Jersey is the vote during the State Senate, which is going to take place on this Thursday.
Raymond Lesniak, who is an NJ Senator and the leading proponent of internet gambling, spoke to Chris Krafcik, who is from the Gambling Compliance. He said that he was confident about receiving the amount of support during the Senate, which is going to be enough for passing the internet gambling legislation.
In case it gets the nod from the Senate as well, Chris Christie, the State Governor, is going to next come into picture. He will be presented with the bill so that he can sign it into the NJ law.
In 2011, Christie was the one, who vetoed the legislation, which was similar to this one. However, all that happened then was before the Department of Justice had revised their opinion about online gambling.
They no longer consider it to be violating the Wire Act. Supporters of A2578, now, strongly believe that this time, it is going to bring the result in their favor.
